What JNR Builds collects, why, how long it's kept, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Last updated 23 September 2026

JNR Builds has no ads, no analytics and no tracking cookies. We keep what you choose to send us (contact messages, newsletter sign-ups and forum accounts), short security logs, and a count of clicks on our shop links. We don’t sell any of it.

Who runs JNR Builds

JNR Builds is run by Joshua Ramdhanie (JRAM), a web developer based in Trinidad and Tobago. He decides what personal data the site collects and how it’s used. For anything in this policy, use the contact form and choose “Privacy or data request”.

What we collect and why

  • Contact form: your name, email address, subject and message, and the page you sent it from. We use them only to reply to you.
  • Newsletter: your email address and the date you signed up, so we can email you when new guides go up. When sending starts, emails will go out through Hostinger Reach, and every email will have an unsubscribe link.
  • Forum account: your username, email address, a scrambled (hashed) copy of your password, your profile and your posts. The forum also records the IP address and time of recent visits, which it uses to show who’s online and to deal with spam.
  • Shop links: when you click one of our links to a retailer (they start with /recommends/), we record which link, when, and the page you came from, so we know which links are useful. We don’t record your IP address.
  • Security logs: our security plugin, Wordfence, logs blocked requests and failed login attempts, including the IP address involved.
  • Server logs: like any web host, Hostinger’s servers keep standard access logs (IP address, pages requested and browser type) to run and protect the service.

Your part picker build and your roadmap ticks stay in your own browser. They aren’t stored on our server, and a build only leaves your browser if you share its link.

Cookies and browser storage

We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies. These are the only ones the site sets:

  • wpforo_browser_timezone: the forum notes your time zone so post times show correctly. It expires after a day.
  • WordPress login cookies: set only if you log in to the forum. They end when you log out or close the browser, or after 14 days if you tick “Remember me”.

The site also saves a few settings in your browser’s local storage, which never leaves your device: jbTheme (light or dark mode), jnrBuild (your part picker build) and jnrRoadmap:v1 (your roadmap ticks). Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.

The site’s fonts are served from our own server, so loading a page doesn’t send your IP address to a font service.

Other companies involved

  • Hostinger hosts the site and stores everything listed above. Hostinger’s privacy policy
  • Hostinger Reach is the newsletter tool. Its script loads on every page, and it will hold newsletter addresses once sending starts.
  • Wordfence (Defiant Inc.) is the security plugin. It checks requests against Wordfence’s threat data. Wordfence’s privacy policy
  • Amazon: our shop links go to Amazon. Once you’re on Amazon’s site, it sets its own cookies, including one that credits us if you buy something. Amazon’s privacy notice
  • X (Twitter): the forum’s share buttons load a script from X, which can see your IP address and set its own cookies. X’s privacy policy

We don’t sell or rent personal data, and we don’t share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

  • Contact messages: 12 months, then deleted automatically.
  • Shop-link click records: 12 months, then deleted automatically.
  • Newsletter address: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
  • Forum account and posts: for as long as the account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal details. Posts other people have replied to may stay, without your name.
  • Security logs: kept for a limited period and removed by Wordfence’s automatic clean-up.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data we hold about you
  • correct it
  • delete it
  • give you a copy of it

Send the request through the contact form, choosing “Privacy or data request”. We’ll reply within 30 days. You can leave the newsletter at any time from the link in any email we send. If you’re in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

JNR Builds isn’t aimed at children under 13, and the forum isn’t for them. If you think a child has made an account, tell us and we’ll delete it.

Ads and analytics

There are no ads or analytics on JNR Builds today. If we add them, for example Google AdSense, we’ll update this policy before they go live and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Changes to this policy

When the site changes what it collects, we update this page and the date at the top.
