How JNR Builds earns money from product links, where those links are, and how they affect what we recommend.

Some product links in our guides go to Amazon through our affiliate account. If you buy something after clicking one, Amazon pays us a small commission. The price you pay doesn’t change.

JNR Builds is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, JNR Builds earns from qualifying purchases.

Our product links go through an address on this site that starts with /recommends/, then on to Amazon. Most of them open an Amazon search for the product rather than a single listing, so check that you’re buying the exact model and size a guide describes. Amazon sets the commission rate, which depends on the product category.

Where you’ll find them

  • In some guides, next to parts we mention, labelled with the product name or “Check price”. Guides that contain them say so in a short note at the top.
  • In the part picker, the Check price link beside each part opens an Amazon search for it. Every part gets the same kind of link, so it doesn’t change which parts the picker suggests.
  • Not in the forum, FAQ, glossary, ebooks or home page. None of these have affiliate links.
  • Links to our own pages are never affiliate links.

Every affiliate link is marked as sponsored in the page code, which tells search engines it’s a paid link.

How we choose what to recommend

We pick a part for the budget and use a guide covers first, and only then add a link to it. The part picker’s compatibility checks don’t know whether a part has an affiliate link. JNR Builds doesn’t test hardware itself: our guides are based on manufacturers’ specifications and published independent testing, which we name where we use it.

What the commission pays for

Commissions help pay for hosting and keep the guides, part picker and ebooks free.

Prices

Amazon’s prices change often. Prices mentioned in our guides may be different from Amazon’s. The price shown at Amazon’s checkout is the one that applies.
